HMS X9 (1943 - 1943)
In September 1943, HMS X9 was assigned to Operation SOURCE (the attack on the German battleship Tirpitz) and was being towed across the North Sea to her operational area with her towing crew on board. She was lost when her tow parted and, probably due to being trimmed down by the bow and the additional weight of the waterlogged cable, the submarine sank in deep water. There were no survivors.
