HMS USURPER (1942 - 1943)

USURPER

HMS USURPER (Lt D R O Mott) sailed from Algiers on 24 September 1943 for patrol south of La Spezia and, subsequently, in the northern portion of the Gulf of Genoa. A signal requiring a reply sent on 11 October received no response and USURPER was overdue at Algiers on 12 October.

She is likely to have struck a mine or possibly suffered a fatal attack from the German antisubmarine vessel UJ2208. HMS USURPER was lost with all hands.
