HMS PERSEUS MEMORIAL

HMS PERSEUS Memorial

LOCATION

Odos Skala, Poros 280 86, Kefalonia

The HMS PERSEUS memorial is located in a peaceful pine woodland just off the coastal road between Poros and Skala on Kefalonia, Greece. Situated directly in front of the Hotel Anastazia, it overlooks the Ionian Sea and honours the 60 men lost when the British submarine struck a mine in December 1941. There are two memorials, one which recognises the heroism of the people of Kefalonia who sheltered the only survivor, John Capes, for 2 years, and a more recently installed which lists the crew who perished.
